The next time you’re carving flowers on cakes, be sure to use the Korean carving method. Unique #knifeartflower method from the Global Flower Design Association of Korea (GFDA) lets enthusiasts to achieve their dreams to carve realistic beautiful flowers on their cakes.
The cake designers have recently found new flower material made of beanpaste (commonly available in Asia) instead of buttercream.

The beanpaste Knife art is different from traditional buttercream piping as many has known. #Beanpasteknifeflower method creates realistic flowers with great details on the textures. Experts carve beautiful delicate flowers with palette knifes instead of conventional pipes, typically used in buttercream method.

In my opinion, the beanpaste flower knife art is like a Chinese painting and buttercream is like the Western oil painting. Knife piping gives great details and refined flowers while the buttercream exhibits smooth outlook on the first glance. The beanpaste texture enables cake designers to easily roll and make different beautiful shapes (flower petals and leafs).
However, the process of making beanpaste takes time and constant practices. Fret not! I will be sharing the recipe in my workshop and how to integrate other ingredients to make the flower tastier!
